NSW ITABs

There are 11 NSW Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs) that provide independent industry advice on the training and skills needs of the industries they represent.

Each ITAB receives funding from the NSW Department of Education and Training to:

  • Identify and prioritise industry skills and workforce development training needs in NSW
  • Establish apprenticeship and traineeship pathways and their suitability as schools-based arrangements
  • Promote and assist in the implementation of brokerage services for the Productivity Places Program
  • Advise on options to strengthen vocational pathways in schools
  • Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of national Training Packages
  • Provide advice and information to Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) regarding registration processes as well as the accreditation and review of courses.

In addition, ITABs

  • Develop training and career information resources
  • Provide professional support to Registered Training Organisations
  • Provide professional advice on training and workforce development to industry and enterprises
  • Promote the benefits and opportunities of vocational education and training to their industries.

The 11 NSW ITABs have the following industry coverage:

  • Arts, communications, finance industries and property services
  • Food and primary industries
  • Community Services and health
  • Construction
  • Forest & forest products, and furnishing
  • Manufacturing, engineering, process manufacturing, textiles, clothing and footwear (TCF)
  • Public sector (including water)
  • Sport & recreation, tourism and hospitality, wholesale, retail and personal services
  • Resources and Infrastructure
  • Transport, logistics and automotive
  • Utilities and Electrotechnology
