NSW Water Industry Trainers & Assessors Network (NSWWTAN)

The NSW Public Sector ITAB is managing a project funded by the Skills Enhancement Program of the NSW Department of Education and Training to establish a network of Water Industry Trainers and Assessors in NSW.

The project commenced in May 2010 and will be completed in January 2012. The purpose of the network is for trainers and assessors to:

  • Share information and maintain current skills in training and assessment
  • Participate in relevant, targeted professional development
  • Contribute suggestions for improvement to the water industry training package and resource materials
  • Improve linkages between employers and training providers
  • Increase the pool of high quality trainers and assessors in the water industry

The network is targeted to:

  • Managers and team leaders responsible for developing the skills of new and existing staff in water utilities or local councils
  • Trainers and assessors from public, private and enterprise-based RTOs who are training others in the water industry (particularly using the water industry training package)
  • Employees of water utilities, councils and other related businesses who are interested in training or assessing staff
  • People retiring from the water industry who are considering casual work as a trainer or assessor.

NSW WTAN conducts quarterly network meetings in various regions of NSW.
