Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Resources

With funding received from the NSW DET-COAG Program in 2009, the NSW Public Sector ITAB managed a project from which 3 different approaches to RPL were developed, using competencies from the Public Sector and Local Government training packages.

An Assessor Guide, Participant Information Pack and Employer Guide were produced for each of the three models. These guides can be downloaded free of charge from the State Training Services website and are designed to be customised by the RTO to suit the candidates and the units being assessed.

The exemplar resources have been based on the assessment of the following units:

Model 1: Local Government (Group recognition model)

  • LGACORE104B: Work effectively in local government
  • LGACORE102B: Follow defined OHS policies and procedures
  • LGACOMP024A: Develop community relations
  • LGACORE105B: Work with others in local government
  • LGACORE103B: Provide service to local government
  • LGACOMP026A: Provide team leadership

Model 2: Public Sector (Group recognition model)

  • PSPROC501A: Manage contract risk
  • PSPROC502A: Establish contract management arrangements
  • PSPROC503A: Manage contract performance
  • PSPROC504A: Finalise contracts

Model 3: Public Sector (Streamlined Portfolio approach)

  • PSPETH501B: Promote the values and ethos of public service
  • PSPGOV504B: Undertake research and analysis
  • PSPGOV505A: Promote diversity
  • PSPGOV507A: Undertake negotiations
  • PSPGOV512A: Use complex workplace communication strategies
  • PSPLEGN501B: Promote compliance with legislation in the public sector
