A suite of training resources has been developed to support the delivery of all units within the 91337NSW Diploma of Local Government (Environmental Health and Building Assessment).
The resources include 11 Learner Guides covering 15 units of competency from the LGA04 and the CPC08 training packages, one Resource Guide, one Assessment Guide and one Implementation Guide. Whilst the resources were developed for the NSW Diploma qualification, they may also be adapted for delivery of other related qualifications, e.g. Certificate IV in Local Government (Planning).
The units of competency included in the training resources are:
- CPCCSV5001A: Assess the construction of domestic scale buildings
- CPCCSV5004A: Apply legislation to urban development and building controls
- CPCCSV5008A: Apply building control legislation to building surveying
- CPCCSV5011A: Apply building codes and standards to residential buildings
- CPCCSV5012A: Assess timber framed designs for one and two storey buildings
- CPCCSV5014A: Apply building surveying procedures to residential buildings
- LGACORE501B: Provide quality and timely advice to council
- LGAEHRR501C: Implement council’s responsibilities in food safety
- LGAEHRR504C: Implement public education programs to improve community compliance
- LGAEHRR509A: Undertake environmental and nuisance controls
- LGALAND403A: Assess applications for the use of land in council care, control and management
- LGAPLEM410A: Provide service and information in preparing a development application
- LGAPLEM411A: Conduct initial assessments of minor planning applications
- LGAPLEM412A: Support the planning application, notification and appeals process
- LGAREGS303B: Enforce legislation to achieve compliance
The Resource Guide is invaluable for learners and RTOs as it identifies the latest NSW legislative and policy information in the areas of planning, environmental health and building assessment. The Guide provides an overview of key government departments and relevant legislation in NSW and provides links to websites where further information can be obtained.
