Public Sector

The Public Sector training package (PSP04) is a resource designed specifically for public sector agencies and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that are responsible for the skills development of government employees.

The training package sets out the competencies (or skills and knowledge) required by people working in a public sector environment, such as ethics and accountability, legislation and compliance, procurement and contract management, policy implementation, service delivery and project management.

There are 64 qualifications in the Public Sector training package (Version 4). Many have application to all public sector workplaces, whilst others are specialist qualifications developed for specific job functions, select agencies or specialist positions. The package also includes 17 Skills Sets.

Skills Sets are single units or combinations of units of competency from a nationally endorsed Training Package, which link to a licence or regulatory requirement, or a defined industry need. Traineeships are pathways that combine work and structured training. New employees and existing workers can undertake a traineeship so long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
